D. S. Senanayake College was inaugurated in an prefabricated building on the 10th of February 1967, with 167 kindergarten students [in memory of Sri Lanka's first prime Minister the Hon. D. S Senanayake. It was the dream of one person, the Honourable I.M.R.A. Iriyagolla, the then Minister of Education. It was realized by the vision and the missionary zeal of Mr. R.I.T Alles our founder principal. He was ably assisted by a dedicated band of teachers and a loyal and ever enthusiastic body of parents.

The Golden bond among Students, Teachers, Parents and Old-boys helped the school to achieve higher standards in studies, Sports and in many other extra curricular activities.
